Descendants Take A Bow!

Blck History Month Event 2016 Group Portrait

On Friday 14th October, the Descendants family gathered to celebrate Black History Month with a very special event.

The Autumn Term  Project reached its climax as the children performed short plays based on the lives of “Heroes and Sheroes” past, present and future. A special place in the programme was reserved to pay tribute to our Late Patron, Dr John Roberts CBE QC, who sadly passed earlier this year.

The children did their own research and put together each sketch with the help of the volunteers. They then learned their lines and practiced very hard to get ready to take the stage!

I must thank you [Margaret], your team and especially the children who put on a wonderful show… it was very touching and dad would have been honoured! Let’s hope it inspired at least one of the kids to “aim high”.

Tony Roberts (son of Dr John Roberts ,who attended with his wife and son)

It was a fantastic evening. I really loved the Children and Young People’s presentation. It was very powerful and clearly it also made a big impression on them and it was obvious how much it was raising their aspirations

Marcella Phelan, Ealing Education Department

We may not have been able to host our grand awards event this year, but we have such outstanding kids that we did not want them to miss out on recognition. Therefore, to close the evening we held a mini-ceremony where we celebrated the achievements of six of our very talented youngsters.
