DR JOHN ROBERTS QC CBE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
CELEBRATING 20 years in 2005

Welcome to Descendants Charity's Annual Dr. John Roberts QC CBE Achievement Awards page, where we honour outstanding achievements and celebrate excellence. Named in tribute to our esteemed founder, these awards recognize the remarkable accomplishments of children and young people of African and Caribbean descent. Through this annual event, we shine a spotlight on inspiring stories of resilience, leadership, and academic success. Join us in applauding the achievements of our youth and celebrating their potential to shape a bright and promising future.

OUR LEGACY PROJECT

Paxton House, nestled in the Scottish Borders, is a cherished partner of Descendants Charity. Known for its commitment to preserving heritage and promoting cultural understanding. Descendants Charity collaborated with Paxton House on the "Parallel Live, Worlds Apart" project, a creative initiative that explored African and Caribbean heritage through young perspectives. Children engaged in art workshops, creating vibrant pieces inspired by cultural themes. These artworks are showcased at Paxton House.

"How does it make you feel learning about these topics?"

"It makes me feel proud, because I now know that my history didn’t start with slavery, it goes much deeper than that..." - Descendants Child

Descendants Children's Charity is a history and arts-focused organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young people aged 4-16, primarily but not exclusively of African and Caribbean descent

We immerse children in the rich history and vibrant arts of African and Caribbean cultures, fostering a sense of identity, pride, and creativity.
